MEET OUR YOGA TEACHER – TRACY CHAMBERS
Welcome to the My Yoga Lifestyle blog! Here you will find informative and interactive monthly installments from yoga teacher Tracy Chambers on the beautiful, healing and transformative path of a regular yoga and meditation practice.
One of the most profound things we can all can do for ourselves is to make a firm commitment to our mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing but as we all know this is not always easy and the follow through can be difficult. And that’s ok because this struggle is part of being human and foremost we need to be kind and understanding of this part of ourselves.
Studies exploring what motivates humans to stay on track during efforts at improving wellbeing reveal that to reach our goals we need to provide ourselves with ongoing support and motivation and that’s where this blog comes in. Think of it as your personal ally so that as you move through the year you can keep checking into this page to find all manner of things to support you and your practice during normal life, seasonal and lunar shifts.
Broadly speaking this blog will provide information and helpful tips, such as the seasonal impacts on your yoga / meditation practice and also health, from an Ayurvedic and Five Element (chinese medicine) perspective. For example Spring is governed by Liver and Gallbladder organs in five element theory so our yoga practice shifts to incorporate some asana that tends to those meridian lines; mainly through more twists and lateral openings. Specifics will be given to asana, pranayama (beathing practices), mantra and mudra that you might like to try to assist you to get the most from your practice at this time. You may have noticed that the seasons also influence your meditation practice as the mind is just as susceptible to the effects of the external world around us as it is by the internal changes. By attuning ourselves with nature we can tweak our practice and keep ourselves motivated and passionate on our path
As many of you will already know the yogic path is a very personal one and can have a profound influence on our quality of life. Tracy aims to incorporate information based on genuine yogic teachings from an array of yogic masters so that the spirit of yoga is not diluted. You will be amazed by what this most ancient teaching has to offer you and your life.
So there is much joy to be shared, we look forward to taking this journey with you. Stay tuned for Spring update coming soon…
Tracy’s Bio:
Tracy has had a close relationship with yoga for over 35 years. Teaching is quite simply the light of her life as she has witnessed first hand the healing and transformative power of this ancient and beautiful practice. After enduring years of health struggles with a chronic condition, the practice of yoga in all its facets quite simply turned her life around. ‘My decision to train as a yoga teacher and commit to this path has been nothing short of a miraculous transformation for my health and life. I feel I am living proof of yoga’s power to heal and it gives me the greatest joy to be able to share yoga in its many forms with others What I love about teaching is that it is a constantly evolving and creative process; I am constantly learning new things for my own practice which I can then share with my students.’
Today she teaches all styles from vinyasa to restorative yoga and has for many years guided groups in meditation and mindfulness practices, derived from years studying Buddhist philosophy. Tracy also runs Dreamtime Yoga and Didgeridoo events which combines the beauty of yoga with indigenous vibrations, a powerful mix. One of her favourite things is to take her practice outdoors and be in nature. She is a kind and caring teacher who delights in making yoga accessible to all and sharing yoga’s innate ability to connect us to what is important and sacred.
On the weekends you will find her somewhere by the sea or in the bush. Swimming in all weather, the ocean inspires and rejuvenates her. Her love is a good book, friends, live music, growing vegetables, walking in nature and of course yoga! She is a passionate activist for all things related to caring for our home, planet earth. Having spent 15 years as a Marine Ecologist before immersing herself in the wonders of Yoga fulltime, her philosophy is that caring for our planet is not a job; its part of our rent in return for living in this beautiful place.
